| Date of commencement | The program starts in October each year. Application deadline is 31st of March each year for international (non-EU citizen) applicants, for German and EU citizens it is 15th July. Applicants that have not yet received their BSc before the deadline can be accepted provisionally based on preliminary transcripts but have to provide full transcripts and certificates prior to enrolment. |

| Cost/Fees | No tuition fee. The administration fee is 142,10 Euro/semester. Additionally, students will be asked to contribute to their excursion costs (approx. 150 Euro /semester). |

| Admissions requirements | - Bachelor or Diploma in Geosciences, Geoecology, Geophysics, Mineralogy, Physical Geography, Soil Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Sciences, Civil Engineering or a field related to environmental sciences, - A good background in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, - An overall grade (CGPA) equivalent to or better than 2,5 German grading system, and - English language proficiency: Unless you are a native English speaker you need a TOEFL 79+ (ibt) or IELTS 6.0 certificate, or a proof of English language efficiency equivalent to level B2 of the Common European Framework CEFR. The international Master Program "Applied & Environmental Geoscience" (AEG) was introduced at the Faculty of Geosciences, Center for Applied Geoscience at the University of Tübingen in 1999. The M.Sc. programme "Applied & Environmental Geoscience" is an international research-oriented two-year study program targeting at the evaluation of environmental problems and the development of ecologically and economically sound mitigation measures. The program is designed for students holding an undergraduate degree in natural sciences or engineering, who are interested in a process-oriented, research-driven graduate education in environmental geosciences following multidisciplinary approaches. A good background in mathematics, chemistry, and physics is required. The program is taught by internationally renowned faculty members who are specialists in their fields. All courses are taught in English. Course modules include e.g.: - Aquatic and Environmental Chemistry - Hydrogeology, Applied Hydrogeology, Contaminant Hydrogeology - Environmental Modelling - Geophysics - Environmental and Geomicrobiology - Environmental Risk Assessment The Department of Geosciences in Tübingen is among the largest institutes for geosciences in Germany and comprises a wide spectrum of research fields, which is reflected by numerous national and international research activities with 22 professors organized in the three branches: - Palaeobiology - Center for Applied Geoscience (ZAG) - Mineralogy and Geodynamics The Center of Applied Geosciences (ZAG) is recognized throughout the world as a leading centre in this field. It comprises more than 400 personnel including professors, faculty and staff members, postdoctoral research fellows, and PhD students. Research and teaching is divided into 12 mainly groundwater- orientated thematic groups: - Geomicrobiology - Geophysics - Hydrogeochemistry - Sedimentary Geology - Environmental Mineralogy - Environmental Physics - Hydrogeology - Environmental Analytical Chemistry - Environmental Analytical Microscopy - Environmental and Engineering Geophysics - Environmental Toxicology - Environmental Systems Analysis Innovative. Interdisciplinary. International. Since 1477. These have been the University of Tübingen’s guiding principles in both research and teaching ever since it was founded. The University is one of Germany’s oldest and most respected, and offers excellent conditions for a course of study with an individual focus.
